We are on a mission from God!

35 år sedan idag!

The Blues Brothers inspelad i Chicago, Il.

/

Maynard Ferguson at Playboy Jazz Festival

The Playboy Magazine is a great magazine, that always had good taste!

It is in the Playboy Philosophy that Jazzmusic, and Jazzlovers should be treated the best way.

I will start to rub off  some stupid nonsence about Playboy magazine.

- It´s a Magazine With a lots of Porn -No Thats not true !

- It´s a Magazine Just for the rich young boys - No way !

-It´s a Magazine for "lousy and cheap" entertainment - No, the contrary!

-It´s a Magazine with bad reputation - No, it has never had a bad reputation !

-It´s a Magazine with just pictures of nude beautiful girls - No, Its just the centerfold!

-It´s a Magazine with bad writers and authors - No, There has even been Nobelprice-winners in literature that has been published in this magazine, Works by E Hemmingway, John Steinbeck and many famous writers like Ray Bradbury and Alex Haley ( Roots) and many, many more.

It´s a Magazine just for men. No, even women likes it!

It´s a Magazine that has published many, many intresting articles and interviews with famus people, like Candidates of USA:s Presidents, and famus movie, rock or jazz stars eg. - Yes, that´s true!

So, if all your prejudice is not gone by now, I´ll continue whith some memories of mine later on, on my blogg. Small memories that I experienced in USA and Sweden. All with Playboy and the music I love, Jazzmusic.

And here is why Playboy magazine plays a vital part.

This magazine and Playboy-clubs also wanted to present the best Jazzmusic on records or live!

Chicago blues

Little Walter

Son Seals

Elmore James

Note that the "old"  Blues Chicago style can be devided,

The westside of  the Chicagoblues is more "raw" and agressive.

The Southside style is played more with the harmoica.

Nowadays it´s a mixture of Texas and Chicago blues on electric guitar

and its hard to label.  But what the heck, Blues can be played in all kinds of styles.

Chicago blues was one of the most significant influences on modern rock music.

Guitar Tips From Larry Carlton To His Fans

Larry Carlton is one of my big sources of inspiration

He´s a pro "studiomusician" and has worked with alot of big stars on recordings and albums.

He is known by the name "Mr 335" from the Gibson Model 335. He worked alot with Lee Ritenour too and they made concerts and albums together. In their early career as solo artist both Larry and Lee mostly played on a Es-335. In The 70´s when their first albums came they both had a very special sound, of "fusion- jazz" from Los Angeles, Warm an melodic and lot of "Jazzy harmonies"in their songs. Both worked with the best studiomusicians in the world on their albums.

These guys are proffessionals. And that´s something you´ll notice it very quic, if you are listening to their records. On their albums are often songs that are played with accustic guitars too. Not only electric guitar. Thats the sign of being a pro I think. Also the way they both handle ballads.

Lee R.  often come back to the sound of a basic "classical guitar", with an exellent tone. So does Larry C too, but he uses  guitars with metal strings in a very sophisiicated jazz style. Nowadays both LR and LC has found their own styles, and they both differs alot  from each other today. Larry Carlton is more into the bluezy way and often a littele bit more "aggresive style" than  he was doing in his earlier days.

Lee Ritenour has gone to a totally uniques style nowadays that is notable on his new akbum "Twist of Rit".

Both these cats are very inspirational for many Jazz-fusion guitarists today.

It´s just a matter of your own taste what kind of style you like.

For me I like them both. And it´s impossible to say that one is better than the other.

To me Lee Ritenour is my favourite still. I have all the records of both these cats, I´m lucky to have seen LR live in Copenhagen, but I never had a chance to see Larry Carlton live yet, though I know he has been around in scandinavia too.

Both these cats are in my book of inspirational sources !

By the way, Larry Carlton also gives lesson and tutural "clinics " for serious guitarplayers both in classes and on the net, worth checking if you play guitar!
