Top 10 Greatest Rock Bands /Great Britain rules!/ Radio Luxemburg 208

The British Rock/ Rythm& Blues/ Hard Rock/ Heavy Metal/ Experimental/ Psychedelic rock and progressive Rock Music Rules!

This list above is not my own, but it reflects very well my point of view of The British Invation (Inovation)  in Rock and Pop Music in the world. Most of them are British!

I miss some early good British band though.

Lets´s start with their sound.

It´s more rougher, tougher, and harder than contemporary American bands. More creative and exploring, in a way.

And much more bluesoriented than thier American fellows, and followers.

Here are some more good British bands:

The Animals, Them (N Ireland, With Van Morrison)

The Kinks,The Spencer Davies Group, The Troggs, Ten Years After, Cream, The Hollies, The Shadows, The Who, The Yardbirds,

Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Manfred Mann, Status Quo, John Mayall´s Bluesbreakers, Jethro Tull, The Moody Blues, Fleetwood Mac, Emerson Lake&Palmer, Elton John, Electric Light Orchestra, Genesis,Yes, Roxy Music, T.Rex, The Zombies and Traffic and many, many more.

The British rock/pop music had/has a tradition that attracts all kind of people. Are you surprised if I told you that it´s no more "Social class oriented"?

No, you´ll find high educated like Doctors, Teachers, Dentists and High skilled professionals humming along, singing and "headbanging" Status Quo and Led Zeppelin. Whistling The Beatles old songs.

But why is America so different?

That has got to do with deep roots of aspects, like Black and White tradition,  North -South and Eastcoast-Westcoast music, I think.

Blue/White-collar traditions too, but differences occur of course in the big cities. On the contrary, not so many jazzgroups, in fact, came from Great Britain,  all the best, they all came from USA, that´s my opinion.

Chris Rea is another good Englishman from Middlesbrough , clearly inspired by Jazzmusic, but have driven to more bluesoriented rock lately.

Radio Luxemburg, 208 AM

This was a very important AM Radio Station in Europe and South of Sweden during the 60´s 70´s. Many, many nights with a transistor under my pillow listening. And of course in the car late Saturday nights.

Radio Luxembourg fantastic 15 jocks.
